Sally Stevens graduated with a fine arts degree, but side-stepped painting for a number of years to jump into the world of graphic design.

She mostly paints landscapes, working with water-mixable oil paints (much like traditional oil paint minus the turpentine, with the added benefit of soap and water cleanup).

Each day she completes a 6×6” painting on Masonite, which has a smoother quality than painting on canvas. Follow Sally on Instagram @Sally_Stevens, on her Facebook page, Sally Stevens, and on her website.

Opera Idaho has been a vital part of the Treasure Valley for 47 years. It brings both traditional and contemporary opera to audiences all over Idaho.

In addition to its staged productions, the popular Operatini allows adults to experience opera in a fun and relaxed setting over dinner and drinks. Opera Idaho also introduces the genre to younger generations through free performances at elementary schools, the opera training and college preparatory program Rising Stars, and the Children’s Choruses.

Community outreach efforts allow Opera Idaho’s beautiful voices to fill hospitals, libraries, and more.

Boise Contemporary Theater (BCT) is Idaho’s only professional theater dedicated to producing contemporary plays, and one of the few doing so in the entire Intermountain West.

Along with our five MainStage productions each year, BCT is also home to A.C.T., the Academy for Contemporary Theater, that invites young artists from 6-18 to find their own voices. The students collaborate in small groups to create a wholly original play that is then performed for family, friends and the community on stage.

BCT’s Children’s Reading Series delights audiences of all ages, and its 5X5 Play Reading Series examines brand new plays, some of which have never before been heard or seen. For more information visit their website.

Each year the Pettitt Group chooses 12 nonprofit arts organizations to support. We donate $1,000 to one of the groups every month during the year.

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, more of our “performance” organizations are transitioning to online, interactive programs. And, sadly, not all of them have been able to continue their public programs in this forum.

Here is a July calendar of events that are scheduled to take place. We are excited that these organizations can share their collective missions with our community despite necessary social distancing. (Disclaimer: DO confirm that dates and locations haven’t been further affected.)
