We are pleased to highlight the work of artist Randy Van Dyck, our March 2019 artist of the month.

Randy Van Dyck’s recent works are inspired and explained by the titles of the pieces themselves. There is often a sense of humor to his work, created from the literal portrayals of common words and phrases. Van Dyck’s works are thought provoking. His use of shadows create a slight confusion in the two-dimensional plane, adding contrast between the subject and the landscape. Randy hopes to continue this body of work, eventually evolving to include more socially conscious subject matter.

We are pleased to highlight the work of artist Jerri Lisk, our February 2019 artist of the month.

Inspired by the dramatic landscapes encountered in her diverse travels, painter Jerri Lisk never leaves home without her sketchbook in hand. Her compositions float within a border of aluminum, having a three-dimensional feel which suggests a separate metal frame. The paintings of Jerri Lisk leave a lasting impression on all who view them. Jerri’s work appears in solo and group shows, as well as in private and commercial collections. Working also on local and internationally commissioned installations. Currently Jerri resides part time in Oregon with her husband Mark Lisk. They remain tied to Boise through their gallery, Lisk Gallery in Downtown Boise.

We are pleased to highlight the work of artist Rick Friesen, our January 2019 artist of the month.

Rick Friesen is an artist working with all mediums, with a focus on oil painting. Friesen’s latest projects are traditional oil paintings of landscapes depicting some of the community’s favorite places around Boise. Recently Rick Friesen began working on larger scale pieces; starting with large murals in the alley behind his home in North Boise.

We are pleased to highlight the work of artist Silas Thompson, our November 2018 artist of the month.

Silas Thompson was raised in Idaho. His passion for drawing and painting was instilled at an early age, fostered by his parents and manifest by the filling of countless sketchbooks and refrigerator magnets. Setting out on annual backpacking trips with his father, he began to treasure the distinct birthmarks and icons of beautiful rivers, valleys, and mountains that carve through the high desert and vast farmlands of the West. After college he continued his education by strengthening his fundamentals and work ethic in painting through five years of apprenticeships.
